Another Week starts, and the forecast looks good. We finally are done with the marathon, and now things working toward completion. Again, let's remember that the Holidays are not around the corner, but but right in your face. Yesterday, I saw one store with Christmas decorations already up. Are we skipping Thanksgiving now? Seems like more and more stores and online vendors are pushing to get that early jump on the Xmas shopping sprees that we all love and adore so much, and pretty soon they may decide that the only Holiday officially reconized may be Xmas. Ladies, break out your steel reinforced shopping bags. Gentlemen, prepare your kevlar wallets. Let's go shopping!!!

Apple Releases Lion Recovery Disk Assistant for External Drives http://shar.es/bXtzD
Welcome to another day in the Big Apple Tech world. Yesterday we welcomed a familiar, yet different friend to the market: the iPhone 4S. While everyone was pleased with the upgraded processor (dual-core A5, like in the iPad) and new 8 MP camera, one could not ignore the cries of "but where is the 5?". Apple may have felt that giving too much at this time would be detrimental to future market shares and might hurt the company in the long run. They have however decided to also keep some older models in the lineup, cheaper and with minor modifications, in order to stay competitive with Android, RIM, and other companies who may see this as an opportunity to grab up the lower end of the market. The iPhone 3GS and 4 will still be on the market as lower-priced units, while Apple pushes the 4S onto the market. This will be a good time to go shopping for new phones, as many other manufacturers will be vying for a piece of Apple's pie, and this coming holiday season will prove to be a game changer for all involved. Check out MacLife's blogsite for more details.

Report: Amazon “Kindle Fire” To Be Announced Wednesday

Report: Amazon “Kindle Fire” To Be Announced Wednesday
Hey Technophiles,
I just had a thought. What if Apple developed the iPad to host a VM emulator like Parallels or VMWare Fusion? Or if Microsoft built an emulator to run natively within Windows 8 on tablets and the Windows phone as well as laptops and desktops? This came to mind this morning when I realized that a platform such as the tablet (running Android or iOS software) would be perfect in an enterprise environment for admins if you could also run a virtual machine (Ubuntu, Lion, Windows, etc.) on it. Imagine the flexibility, adaptability, the savings in both time and cost. I put the challenge out there for all developers and engineers to push the boundaries. We know how far the Tablet has come as an asset for both enterprise and consumer, but how far can it go if we just push it a little? I think the Tablet, as it is now, has a lot of potential that hasn't been tapped yet and it's just a matter of time (not years or months, but mere days!) before we see more incredible advances come about from this little workhorse. Just a thought.
What if you could install VirtualBox on the iPad, or if Win 8 came with VMWare? Dream big baby.
Time to wake up and smell a new day...WAKE UP!!!

10 Handy Utilities for Your iPhone and iPad

10 Handy Utilities for Your iPhone and iPad These are some handy apps to purchase and download. You should especially check out USB Disk Pro which lets you use your device as an external device for storage and access, as well as Scanner Pro which converts any documents to PDF format for easy reading and sharing. It's also great that they introduce Dragon Dictation Pro so you can record voice notes on the go. As for Admins, the Screens app is a little pricey but it turns your iPhone or iPad into a great control console in an Enterprise environment for controlling Macs remotely (but you could do the same thing with LogMeIn Pro or CrossLoop, but these require paid subscriptions or you can download non-commercial versions for free). All in all these utilities are all useful, but choose based on your needs and enjoy.

iPad Will Have Free Run Over Holiday Shopping Season

iPad Will Have Free Run Over Holiday Shopping Season With all the commotion between all the other tablets, the iPad is set to clean up this holiday season be default. Is this any surprise to anyone? Apple made a tablet that is simply beautiful in its simplicity in that it just works. Forget all the stuff about Flash and HTML 5, it still proves it's a number one contender in both the consumer and Enterprise markets. No other tablet, either now or in the future, will make as much of a splash as the iPad has, and Apple will only keep the momentum going with rumors of a new iPad (3?) coming soon, boasting an 8 MP rear camera and faster processor (maybe dual or even quad core in the future). This will only make things better for the consumer looking for more bang for their buck, and the iPad will deliver in fine style.

How to Pick a Carrier for the Next iPhone

With the recent news of the Supreme Court suspending AT&T's acquisition of T-Mobile, and with the delay of the 5th generation iPhone, now would be the best time for most consumers to manage which carrier they want to join with, since there's bound to be a slew of price wars between the big four (not basketball, though the season is fast approaching), and the competition will be fierce. Thoughts on a bus...

I was riding back from Martha's Vineyard on the PeterPan line, and as I looked around I discovered that at least 60% of the riders were utilizing some gadget or another, surfing or emailing, or just plain tweeting and liking. They ranged from iPhones to BlackBerrys (and a few androids, but who's counting?). There were also a good number of laptops, not the least of which were MacBooks (I should know, that's what i'm writing on at the moment), and I suddenly got this feeling of great unity, and at the same time isolation. Here we all are using technology designed to bring us all together, but in many instances it has only served to isolate us even more. Now we speak with people more, but only through texting or email. Face to face communication seems to be declining as people slip on their headphones to watch Hulu or Netflix, or to upload or download media content from any number of sites specifically designed with this purpose in mind. Once companies fought to suppress social media in their networks, now Yammer comes along and tells Net Admins that it's okay to let employees socialize over the network, as long as they like or tweet or click on the right ads, and purchase the right products. People have become the minority, and YouTube has become the majority leader for the education of old and young alike.

I'm not saying that we should restrict our access to technology, but I do feel we should be more vigilant in who and what we watch on the new idiot boxes we lovingly call our computers. We've turned technology into a cultural icon, one whose ramifications will be felt for a long time to come. Instead of having iPad parties, and schools teaching us how to develop new silly apps, how about some real conversation for a change.

Put down your phone, talk face to face to someone. Just for a little while. Huh?
